Poke bowls are a popular choice on many restaurant menus due to their health benefits and delicious taste. Biltong Poke offers a delightful twist on this traditional dish. Explore the unique flavors of biltong poke, you won't be sorry.

We serve our biltong poke with sushi rice because we find it compliments the poke ingredients and adds some interesting flavour dimension. However, you can choose to  serve it with plain white or brown rice made to your liking.

BILTONG POKE BOWL

Ingredients

    • 2 cups of Sushi Rice

    • 2 ½ cups of water

    • ¼ cup rice vinegar

    • 2 tsp sugar

    • ¼ tsp salt

    • 1 ½ tsp freshly grated ginger

    • ½ tsp freshly minced garlic

    • 1 tsp Maple syrup

    • ¼ cup soy sauce

    • 2 ½ tbsp sesame oil

    • 2 tbsp rice vinegar

    • 2 tbsp mirin (sweet Japanese cooking sake)

    • ½ tsp lime juice

    • Optional - 2 ½ tsp sriracha

    • 85g Beef Bru Classic Savoury Biltong

    • 1 Avocado

    • 6 red radishes

    • 1 Cucumber

    • 1 large carrot

    • 1 cup edamame beans

    • 1 cup of corn

    • 2 green onion

    • 2 small mangoes ( Philippine mangoes are best)

    • Black or white sesame seeds

    • Optional - 1 small chilli - finely chopped

        1. Place your rice and water in a saucepan or rice cooker and cook.

        2. Whilst your rice is cooking prepare sushi rice seasoning by mixing the remaining ingredients together until the sugar is dissolved.

        3. Once rice is cooked, spread rice out evenly in a pan.

        4. Pour half the seasoning onto the rice and mix well.

        5. Let the rice cool to room temperature and then drizzle the remaining seasoning over the rice.

        1. Mix all poke sauce ingredients together. If adding sriracha sauce, add to taste

        1. Place biltong in the poke sauce.

        2. Chop or slice vegetables and mangoes to your liking.

        3. Divide rice in equal servings between bowls.

        4. Top the rice bowls with vegetables and mangoes, keeping the spring onions aside.

        5. Place the biltong on top of the arranged vegetables and then top with spring onions and/or chilli.

        6. Finish of by sprinkling with sesame seeds.

        7. Serve and enjoy.
